We work with mission-driven organizations that need strong financial systems, clear reporting, and dependable grant compliance to operate with confidence.

Our clients include:

  • Nonprofit organizations: Supporting growing and established nonprofits with bookkeeping, financial reporting, audit readiness, and governance-ready financial systems.
  • Foundations and Small organizations: Helping organizations manage restricted funding, multi-year grants, and funder reporting with structure and transparency.
  • Mission-driven small businesses : Providing finance and advisory support for purpose-led businesses that require disciplined financial oversight without a full in-house team.
  • Teams managing grants and public funding: Assisting organizations navigating grant tracking, compliance, reporting, and close-out across multiple funding agreements.

Whether you’re building your systems for the first time or bringing years of financial activity into order, we meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity.

CASE STUDY

Building Financial Systems and Grant Compliance for a Growing Nonprofit

Client

Queer Toronto Literary Magazine (QT), a Toronto-based nonprofit organization in the arts and culture sector.

The Challenge

QT was operating without a formal accounting system and had several years of outstanding financial records. The organization also needed support managing grant compliance, including tracking, reporting, and closing out a multi-year grant, while preparing accurate financial information for governance and funder requirements.

Our Approach

Jayvin Consulting partnered with QT to establish strong financial and grant management foundations by:

  • Designing and implementing a structured accounting system
  • Cleaning and reconciling multiple years of historical financial data
  • Building grant tracking tools within the financial system
  • Supporting the submission, tracking, and close-out of a three-year grant
  • Ensuring grant expenditures aligned with funding agreements
  • Working alongside external accountants and providing system-level recommendations
  • Preparing management financial statements for leadership and board review

The Results

  • A fully functional accounting system tailored to QT’s operations
  • Multi-year financial backlogs reconciled and brought up to date
  • Clear grant tracking and improved grant compliance processes
  • Successful submission and close-out of a multi-year grant
  • Management financial statements presented at the AGM for the first time
  • Increased financial clarity and confidence for leadership and the board

Why It Matters

By strengthening both financial systems and grant compliance processes, QT is now better positioned to meet funder expectations, support future audits, and operate with greater transparency and control.
